Smart Education aims to support personalized learning processes that bridge formal and informal experiences. We propose to take advantage of the open data published on the Web to automatically create learning resources that could help support this bridging process. This paper describes our technical system to create such learning resources and argues how we go beyond the state of the art. Our preliminary results show that this approach has some limitations since it entails exploiting noisy and incomplete datasets; but it is very promising, as we are able to automatically create thousands of learning resources related to formal education concepts and physical locations in the student's local municipality, thus creating opportunities for informal learning.
