Open Education Week 2014

eMadrid members participate also this year in the Open Education Week to be held from March 10 to 15, 2014.

On one hand, the monthly eMadrid seminar will be organized during this week, main topic of which is collaborative learning. The two presentations at the Rey Juan Carlos University show free software solutions in this field. International Workshop on Massive Open Online Courses

Prof. Carlos Delgado Kloos, coordinator of eMadrid, is one of the organizers of the International Workshop on Massive Open Online Courses, to be held in Antigua Guatemala on 15 and 16 May 2014. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are a popular phenomenon in the online learning world. Today many institutions offer MOOCs; the two main MOOC portals (Coursera, Edx) have about 135 partners while many more institutions are exploring the possibilities of such effort. This phenomenon has not only created a new trend in online education, it also has been adopted by a number of institutions around the world, allowing spaces for research in pedagogical, technological and organizational aspects.

unX and HP Catalyst Academy launch free MOOCs for STEMx teachers

UnX and HP Catalyst Academy launch two MOOCs, one about Augmented Reality for Mobile Apps, and other about Mobile App Design with App Inventor without programing. Both on-line courses are especially adapted for Sciences, Technology, Engineering and mathematics teachers (STEMx) and are now available in Spanish and Portuguese. unX and the HP Catalyst Academy, is a network of free and innovative online professional development experiences for STEM+ teachers around the world. Mini-MOOC about Augmented Reality

We are delighted to announce that unX new mini course,  Developing STEMx Augmented Reality Mobile Apps has been added to the HP Catalyst Academy’s catalog of courses. This mini course is available in Spanish. Interviews on MOOCs at the IV eMadrid Workshop

On the occasion of the IV eMadrid Workshop, event held last June 13 and 14 at the Leganés Campus of the Carlos III University of Masdrid, a series of interviews was conducted. Participants responded on various aspects related to the central theme of this edition, the MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses). During the interviews they presented their points of view on the development phase of this kind of courses and their possible evolution.

Luis Pablo Prieto (UVA) and Silvia Tamayo (URJC), Winners of the eMadrid 2013 Awards

Next June 13th, during the celebration of the IV eMadrid Workshop, the eMadrid 2013 Awards will be delivered. In this occasion the winners have been Luis Pablo Prieto (Universidad de Valladolid, UVA), who will receive the award to his Doctoral Thesis, and Silvia Tamayo (URJC), who will receive the prize to the best final master work. Both will have the chance to show their works the second day of the eMadrid Workshop.

eMadrid Representatives Participate in the Development of Two Training Simulators

The Gradient Lab Group of Telematics Applications and Services (laboratorio Gradient del Grupo de Aplicaciones y Servicios Telemáticos, GAST) from the Carlos III University of Madrid, an eMadrid network partner, and the company Simumak have developed two training simulators. The first one is a tool for the training of entrepreneurs in which the user is immersed in an adventure game during which a mentor will guide you through the process of creating your own business.

eMadrid Members Develop a Video Game to Bring the Theater to High School Students

The research group e-UCM from Complutense University of Madrid, included in the eMadrid Network, has developed a video game that recreates the play La Dama Boba (Lope de Vega) and allows players to play as one of the characters. These actions are included within the project " e-Learning a escena” which main motivation the teaching of classical theater to high school students of the Community of Madrid.
