Last Wednesday June 1st, 2011, during the II eMadrid Workshop held at the Psichology Faculty-UNED (Madrid), the eMadrid 2011 Awards were delivered. The winner of the ATOS-Origin award for best doctoral thesis was to Sergio Martin (UNED), and Jorge Fernández (URJC) was awarded in duplicate, to receive the MadridOnRails prize for best work or free software development related to education and the ATOS-Origin Award for best final degree project . Awards were delivered by Rafael San Miguel, CEO of Madrid On Rails, ando Lydia Montagon, Area Manager of Atos Origin. Winners presented their work on the second day of the event, June 2.

The town of Villablino (León) will host the Carlos III University Summer School between July 11 to 22. Among the various offers of education, there is one entitled "Exploring new realities: Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, "directed by Carlos Delgado Kloos and taught by members of the eMadrid Network.

Gregorio Robles and Jesus M. González Barahona, from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, and members of the eMadrid network have been awarded with the second best paper award from among the 28 papers that have been presented at the VI ADA Madrid Educational Innovation Symposium. The paper, entitled "On the commitment of time of a social teacher" discusses the time that a teacher has to devote to teaching when following tasks have to be maintained: web platform, continuous assessment, on-line tutoring and social activities.

Last April 4, 2011 eMadrid project members presented the progress of their researchs at the second IEEE EDUCON conference, hosted by Princess Sumaya University for Technology in Amman, Jordan, from 4 to 6 of this month. Under the heading "Open Learning - advances in eMadrid network of excellence", there have been presentations by members of the University Carlos III of Madrid, Complutense University of Madrid, Polytechnic University of Madrid, Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid and National Distance Learning University.

Libresoft Gymkhana 1.0 has been released in Android Market. It’s an Android application to organize and participate in gymkhanas, funny clue games that can be played outdoor or in groups. The use of technologies included on smartphones allows Libresoft to include new experiences in the traditional gymkhanas, like photo capture, geolocalization or augmented reality.
