Summary

The intervention will present recent data that show the advantages of using MIT OCW materials in different segments of the public. MIT OpenCourseWare shares the academic basics (academic programs, teaching notes, assignments and examinations) with virtually all undergraduate and graduate courses MIT 1970 in total.

Many contents are complemented by additional sources such as simulations, animations and videos of lectures and classes. Since the inception of the program has found continued access to the contents of the MIT OpenCourseWare by educators, students and interested individuals around the world to support their educational activities. Over the past two years the MIT OCW team has developed a clearer outline of the advantages it offers to different segments of users through surveys and interviews. This information will be discussed during the seminar.

Author Biography

Stephen Carson coordinates the support that MIT offers open educational projects (OpenCourseWare, OCW) that developed at various institutions, manages the efforts of the priority areas, and plans and carries out the collection of assessment data, the integration and reports to the MIT OCW. Previously he was a member of the team of MIT OCW publication where he worked with the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. Before joining the MIT OCW team worked as Associate Director of the Division of Continuing Education at Emerson College in Boston, where, in addition to managing key operations of the department, developed and taught the first course distance asynchronous, web-based . Professor Carson won the MFA in creative writing from Emerson College where he taught creative and expository writing for five years.
