Deusto Institute of Technology, DeustoTech, invites applications and nominations for a position as Research Leader of its major new research initiative on technology-enhanced learning.

Deusto Institute of Technology, DeustoTech, located in Bilbao, Basque Country (Spain), is a Research Institute belonging to the University of Deusto and created with the mission of conducting basic and applied research in computer science and information technologies, addressing technology transfer and support to companies, and fostering training and education excellence.

The Research Leader will be responsible for the design, management, and operation of the newly created Education Unit. The Education Unit, DeustoTech Education, is focused on the design, implementation and use of information and communication technology solutions for its application in different educational and learning environments and contexts (school, university, vocational training, life-long learning and outreach to the general public). Topics of research include interactive and educational digital objects, Internet-based educational platforms, remote laboratories, mobile learning and other devices, game-based learning, online cognitive experiments, etc.

The University of Deusto has been awarded the status of “International Campus of Excellence” by the Spanish Program on International Excellence, and provides state-of-the-art facilities for interdisciplinary and cutting-edge research on information technologies, computer science, educational sciences, behavioural sciences and humanities.

Candidates should have an outstanding track record of research in the above mentioned topics, with a preferred background of computer science and/or information technology engineering, a proven ability to obtain competitive research funding, and a proven record of technological transfer initiatives. Proficiency in spoken and written English is compulsory; knowledge of Spanish is not a requirement. All qualified candidates will be considered.
